APN+ MEETING BLOG NOV 2008

At the Nov 25th meeting following issues were discussed:

Set up a meeting blog so that all APN+ office staff can share on the blog the meetings they attend.

Conduct an assesment of the office/TOR/ Job description. Put in a proposal to TSF to get a consultant to review the current situation within the office.

Brief update by all the staff on what everyone is doing.

Stategic directions - 4 are advocacy, network growing, cap development and knowledge sharing and secretariat capacity developement.

What we need is to look at these and lot and how some of these are actually contributing to the directions- reporting to the donors is important and can also negotiate

M & E Component - to monitor the progress of the strat plan. Bring in an M & E expert to develop some key indicators and process.

Any other issues:
Working collaboratively for the conferences - can we plan in advance can be discussed at the Staff meetings.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE ESTABLISHMENT OF

THE NETWORK OF PLHIV IN VIET NAM (VNP+)

In order to enhance the involvement of people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV) in Viet Nam’s response to HIV/AIDS, and to form a common voice in influencing policy concerning PLHIV, after almost two years of preparation, on August 11 to 15, 2008, the workshop “Establishment of the Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS in Viet Nam†took place in Ha Noi, with the participation of over seventy PLHIV self-help groups, alliances and networks at provincial/city level from all over the country. The workshop was an important event marking the founding of a national network representing PLHIV in Viet Nam .

VNP+ brings together PLHIV self-help groups, alliances and networks at provincial/city level currently engaged in HIV/AIDS prevention and control in Viet Nam .

VNP+ creates and maintains information channels among groups, organizations and individuals, thereby helping to form linkages and facilitate information and experience sharing related to HIV/AIDS activities, in order to enhance PLHIV’s involvement in care and treatment and other HIV-related interventions. Participation in the network’s activities will provide members with opportunities to gain better community integration, reduce stigma and discrimination, and strengthen their capacity and professionalism in the HIV/AIDS field.
